Imagine the thrill of seeing swirling kettles of broad-winged hawks as they migrate southward along the Gulf Coast towards their winter home in Central America. Travel to the Candy Abshier Wildlife Management Area at Smith Point, a well-known hotspot for studying hawks as they skirt around Galveston Bay during their annual migration. Learn about the dynamics of hawk flight and why they won't fly over open water. Enjoy lunch at an area restaurant.
