This sanctuary southwest of Houston is a real birder's paradise. Located along the Colorado River, it includes 34 acres of nature trails, bridges, wetlands, woods, prairies, hummingbird gardens, and much, much more. Scheduled during the early fall migration, there should be lots of hummingbirds, hawks and other migrants. Celebrate a successful morning of birding with lunch at an area restaurant.

Bill Goloby (BS, Wildlife Science, Texas A & M) has been an instructor for the Houston Museum of Natural Science, the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center and the Armand Bayou Nature Center.
