Established in 1966, this refuge has long been a favorite of birdwatchers. It's an extensive 47,000-acre refuge with a varied habitat of prairies, salt cedars, marshes and lakes. Get some terrific views of waterfowl, rails, sandpipers, hawks, and more. Finish the morning with lunch at an area restaurant.

Bill Goloby (BS, Wildlife Science, Texas A & M) has been an instructor for the Houston Museum of Natural Science, the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center and the Armand Bayou Nature Center. He has lead birding trips for LLU since 1985.
